To demonstrate Hanwha’s commitments to promote cutting-edge research and innovation in Materials Chemistry & Processing, this award will support the career development of non-tenured young faculty particularly in the following areas.
In the fields of composite materials development and molding technology for electric vehicles, aerospace(including AAM, drone), and robotics parts: Innovative research and development achievements

: Research and development aligned with industrial needs(productivity improvement, cost reduction, quality enhancement, sustainability)
: Lead research and development for innovation that respond to industrial needs
Chemical engineering process(reaction engineering, modeling, simulation, etc.)
Catalysts (synthesis, kinetics, deactivation, etc.),
Water Electrolysis, Electrochemical Process & Catalysts
Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCU) technology (CO2 reduction technology, hydrocarbon, aromatics, etc.)
Bio molecular simulation/ engineering, Bio-Engineering
Computational chemistry & AI/Machine Learning application in chemical engineering Electrochemical process & catalysts
Electronic Materials
Advanced Polymer Technology(polymerization catalyst, block copolymer, radical polymerization, advanced composite materials, polyolefin product/process, catalytic upcycling of polyolefin)
Green Energy Technology(hydrogen, ammonia, methanol, etc.)
Sustainable Technology(bio-polymers, plastic recycling)
Li-ion battery materials(separator, binder, electrolyte, coating materials)

Eligibility : Non-tenured faculty with Korean heritage in North America and Europe, working in the chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science and engineering and other related disciplines.2,3

Award amount : $12,000 as an unrestricted gift funding
The awardee required to deliver a seminar at "Hanwha Non tenured faculty Award Ceremony" in the summer of 2024 on Hanwha Advanced Materials Sejong site (Sejong-si, Korea).
